< =text/>_popupControl(); My son would blow a gasket if he came in the house and had to start homework right away!  He comes in, we look at his folder and agenda, talk about what he has to do, and then he gets until 4:30pm to do whatever he wants. He always does his homework at 4:30 regardless of what's on TV or his video game or whatever; that way, the clock is the bad guy, not me! It might take him a bit longer than if he did it straight away, but he really needs that decompression time first. Thanks everyone for the info. Yes, my son just started a trial of meds and I
have discovered, with the guidance from all of you, that homework right
after school works the best.
He is doing so much better in school and at home!

Is your child on meds?  If so, does homework need to be completed before they wear off in order for him to do his best work?  I'd base it on that.

My child does homework as soon as he gets home from school.  That helps him in two ways.  He does homework while the stimulant is still in his system.  Also, once he's started relaxing and has gotten out of school mode, he has a hard time shifting back into it.  Although, maybe that's b/c the stimulant isn't in his system anymore.

Because our med wears off quickly after school, we give son 10, 15min to jump on trmpoline or other physical, then he has to do homework. sometimes it is still a struggle.I have been trying to find the right time for my 7 year old to do his
homework. I don't know if I should give him time to unwind after school
and do it after dinner or if I should give him a snack and have him do it right
away? What about you guys? What do you do?
