My daughter and her journey | ADHD Information

My daughter is 8 and the ped that first put her on meds has moved out of state.  Since then we have been told she is on too much medication.  She is not zoned out or anything and still has fire.  Today for one more time I had to switch peds because they decide not to see her anymore.  The new ped today wouldn't fill her meds that we have been on for almost 3 years ( and work).  So he is wanting to add Clonadine to her list.  I didn't like this idea because it is a blood pressure medication.  I am so frustrated because no one cares about my concerns and just talks at me or over me.  I also didn't want to disrupt her meds during the school year, not sure why we couldn't wait a few more months.  However, I have no choice but to allow this doctor that I don't like to whatever because I don't have anymore options in my area.  I just want to sit down and scream.  Any advice or just a another person to talk to would be so helpful.  I feel so alone in all of this and just don't know what I can do from here.

Thank You

You need to be seeing a child psychiatrist to deal with meds at the very least. I also am concerned about adding a blood pressure med to my sons regime of Concerta 27mg, Zoloft 50mg, Melatonin for sleep. He is 10 and we see a child psychiatrist. the pediatrition does not know enough about meds to be Rx'ing for ADHD especially if there are any co-exsisting disorders. My son has anxiety and Adjustment disorder. I would her to a child psych asap!We did see a child psychiatrist.....they did a four hour evaluation and determined that she was a gifted child and wanted me to bring her in once a week for some therapy (we were having death issues) but she was already on medication and they didn't make any suggestions about that.  Sadly, this facility was too far for me to travel to once a week and take off work, her out of school, and pay for gas tolls, ect.  We continued doing conseling with the same person we did the parent child therapy with.  The doctor this morning informed me that ADHD was his specialty.....but my daughter is mine.  He wants to put her on the patch, my concerns there were one being skin irritation and her removing it.  His reply was that we could address the skin irritation and that I would just have instruct her on not removing it.  We are talking about a child with ADHD.....trying to get her to follow simple instructions is hard enough.I understand what you mean about the patch . It has it's disadvantages as well. We decided against it because it takes 2 hours to start working and the skin irritation, my son is allergic to band-aids. Can't you find a child psychiatrist closer to you who does adhd? our insurance was helpful with that for us. Purposly for meds. I understand you dilema with the patches, you really need her to swallow pills, will she? there are many other meds out there besides the patch .
