My 5yr old was put on Daytrana a few weeks ago. Everything started great, got the dosage figured out, it was all good. Then the puking and diarreah started. At first I just thought it was the stomach bug that was going around his school. That was about 3 weeks ago. He doesn't puke every single day but it's become a very regular occurance. He was originally on focalin xr but has such a sensitive gag reflex he couldn't even take it in pudding without trying to chew it, that's why we switched. On weekends when he doesn't wear the patch there is no puking, then within 24 hours of wearing one he pukes. I just am at a loss on what to do. I thought we finally had this figured out, now this. And the diarreah is just as bad. It just sucks. Should I take him back to the Dr. and try something else, or just stick it out a little longer and see if it stops??
I've heard sometimes that side effects can come back if you take med breaks over the weekends. IDK if you want to try this, but how about if you use the patch for 2-3 weeks straight and see if it stops? I truly have no idea if this could be due to side effects, it's just one thought. I definitely would call the dr.
Mom2ADHDboy39898.8529282407He's in year round school so after today he has 2 and a half weeks off. I really want to give him a break from meds cause he's been losing weight he can't afford to lose. On a good note, the puking has started to let up some. He ate lunch and dinner yesterday and hasn't puked yet (crossing fingers) but right now he's in the bathroom with diarreah. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and stop for about a week and a half then a week before he goes back start putting it back on and see what happens.
