Been a LONG time!!! | ADHD Information

Welcome back! I had been wondering how you and your dd were doing. I'm thrilled to hear that things are going so well for her!

As was already said, knowledge is empowering. If it turns out your younger one has ADHD, you already know so much about it and you'll be able to hit the ground running on helping her.

Welcome back Diane! If your second child does in fact also have ADHD things will be better because now you have a ton of experience and knowledge What makes things more diffficult is fear of the unknown and not knowing how to get resources once there is a diagnosis. Your an old pro at this

Thanks, oh I know, which is why I was able to wait 2 years. I refused to do much until she was 7. I wanted solid testing. She's got some co-exisitng language stuff going on, but all her issues pale compared to my oldest. And if we got her in a good place, I can do ANTHING

. So after my tantrum and day of wanting to jump off a bridge (I'm joking), I know I can handle her, I just was hoping this one would be "issue free". No such thing I guess..............Nice to see you back! Sorry that your younger child is facing a diagnosis too, but like luvmykids said, if anyone can handle it well, it's you.
How is your older daughter doing?
She is doing GREAT. I'm not sure you remember our story, but we moved her to a full SPED program. It's been the best decision we made. So although we've given up some on her academics (she was 4 years behind anyway), she's getting incorporated Life Skills, PT, OT, Speech/Language all integrated into the program. Plus an incredicble vocational component. She is already working a little 4-8 hours a month, paid, at 16 she'll work off campus and be paid minumum wage. Plus they have an extensive social program. She's got friends, she's not stressed, what a self esteem boost.

I haven't been around her for a LONG time!!! Needed to commiserate though. The time has come where it looks like we are looking at child #2 to be diagnosed. I've put this off for 2 years waiting for her to be old enough..................just had all her testing for 3 year evals and her attentional concerns are shoing up ALL over the place. Guess we gotta get our own 2nd opinion and make a plan.............does life get better than this . Both kids! This one's GOT to be easier

Yes, I do remember. That's great that it's working well for her. If she's got friends and is not stressed, she's happy, learning, and feels good about herself; you really can't ask for more than that IMO. These are the things that will lead to a successful life in the true sense.

Wlecome back Dianne V! How nice to hear your older daughter is doing well. I think you knew the younger one had signs a long time ago. Hopefully it will be easier the 2nd time around. I am so glad you are back as you were always one with Bethann and others helped me through the hardest times of my life. You told me how to react and what to do and life has changed around here For the better.
