flailing arms, awkward body movements | ADHD Information
Yes, typical stuff. My son did the arm flailing until age 8. No worries. Not a pleasant site to see however. Definately makes you wonder, but don't.
Team sports often don't work out. My son cannot focus at soccer. Martial arts, fencing and swimming are better--but that's no surprise for ADHD kids.
I have a boy and a girl, with the girl being younger. The girl is more angry and emotional. Both are on focalin XR. The girl is on a lower dose. She was more like that before, so I don't think it's the meds. I think she has impulse issues with emotions.
This is a good med.I have a 6 and a half year old son and 5 year old daughter. Both are diagnosed with ADHD and dyspraxia. My son is on Focalin XR and it works well. My daughter has started focalin XR recently. She is focusing better but is more angry and emotional.
My son has a lot of sensory issues. The most noticable is that he flails his arms when running or if he gets excited. Even on medicine at soccer he gets wound up, hyper and can't focus (literally out of control, but at least not hitting, kicking or pushing anymore) Does anyone know if this is typical of ADHD children or is it something else?
Any input would greatly be appreciated!
Our experience with Focalin XR was not a good on. I am sorry to say my son refused to take the meds because of it for 1 year. he was like a zombie on it and it had too many side effects. Good old ritalin worked for a while now on Concerta 36mg Have to swallow pill. HUGE difference. maybe you need a different med or maybe they need tweaking. I would call the doc and see.
