diagnosed

Hi,

To be honest I was a little confused when he mentioned that part. He said that people handle emotions differently however my daughter will also show the extremes (sorry about spellings). This I must agree on.

We will learn how to deal with her outbursts but to be honest I'm feeling a little better as I said before I think, I know she is not naughty.  We are going to watch her and when the tmes right we will then consider med's.

Not sure what the school will do now as she has been in trouble before but now I understand that it was her adhd.

Not sure if this helps but welcome to the forum . I have found it a great help and hope you do also.

Take care

munch, I am glad you have the diagnosis, now you can move in that direction instead of always wondering and thinking things that may not have been accurate.

Don't worry about the slight austistic diagnosis, I think a lot have that, but they do just fine in life. I know you will see to that.

Please let us know if we can help!!

Been waiting a while to find out what is going on with my daughter however today we were told that she does have ADHD and shows ver mild signs of autism with regards to her emotions

At least I know she does not do these outbursts because she is naughty or because of me. To have a doctor listern and tell you that everthing she has been going through can now be explained.

Just have to learn to handle the ourburts .

I am new to the message board, my son was just recently diagnosed, but they still have not made it official or told us if it is ADHD or ADD. I wonder if you could describe the emotional outbursts. My son has them at home and school and they get physical even on the Ritalin LA 10mg and a booster of methylphenidate 2.5 mg in the am and pm. I had to physically remove him from his class room today as he was in the corner crying because his classmates told on him about using a bad word while the teacher stepped out. Welcome to the board munch :) Its a relief to get a diagnosis. What type of doctor made the diagnosis? Only a specialist can make a differental diagnosis in terms of stating that  the child has mild autism.  Its good to know what your dealing with. However, I would get a second opinion about the autism diagnosis because the interventions for autsim are very different than the interventions for ADHD. Children can have emotional outbursts for many reason which have nothing to do with autism.  Good luck and please keep us posted :)Welcome to you and your daughter to the board. I know it is very scarry when you first get the diagnosis for most people. Are you planning on using any meds ? or are you going to try the natural route? We tried the natural route with disasterous results. my son is 10 and on Concerta36mg and doing great so far. What a difference! He is very emotional as well, but doesn't have a Autism DX. It is from his ADHD.
