Adderall problems?? Please help!! | ADHD Information

Definitely speak with her prescriber ASAP. I have had
blurry vision as well, and usually the dose was too
high.

I have a very serious problem concerning my daughter. She is on 20mg dose of Adderall. Latley she's come to me upset. This is how she explanined her trouble to me:

She says she feels to be in a dream like state. Where she is there but not really. Just think of what a dream is like, sometimes you remeber them sometimes you don't, and if you do they're not always clear. That, she explains, is how everyday life has become for her. She feels like a machine going through everyday performing tasks but not really feeling her surroundings. With blurry like vision, as in her mind doesn't seem to be processing what she is looking at.

Please!!! help us with some useful information. No person should not be able to live life or live in the moment. We desprately are seeking some help!

hmmmm....that does sound weird.  how long has she been on  this dose?  how old is she?

i have been on adderall xr now about 9 days at 10 mgs then 15 mgs for 3 days now and have not felt anything like this.

however  when i was on zoloft i  did feel this spacey feeling...maybe the dose is too high for her?

did they start her out at that dose cause if they did they should of started her out around 10 m gs or even 5 and worked her up.

i would ask her dr.  for a lower dose so she can use to it more slowly....good luck!

shadesofyou43, Contact your daughters physician immediately as it certainly appears that her dosage is to high.  Remember the old Zombie effect that Ritalin used to be accused of turning children into.  That was because when it was first available the doses were not as flexible as they are now.  That includes all the other stimulant medications.  If the dose is to high you get the zombie effect.  My nephew now 20 something was taken off of Ritalin when he was a child because of this problem.  Especially if this is her first prescription it most likely will need adjustments.

Assuming this is her first prescription, 20 mg is rather high for a first prescription.  Most doctors prefer to start lower and then go up as needed.  My sons physician started him at 15 because he had found through his practice that it was the optimum dose.  My son had to back down to 10 mg becuase of the lack of sleep and zombie effect.  The 10 didn't really do the job so we added Strattera 40 mg.  This combination is working well for him at the moment.  he is almost 9 (in less than a month) and weights about 50 pounds.  -Gettingagrip-

I'd speak to the doctor immediatly. My son was having that problem on the 10 mg dose. He's down to 5 mg now and is fine. On top of the dream like state he started getting very grumpy and irritable with others as the medication wore off.
