Will 4th grade be more difficult? | ADHD Information

< =text/>_popupControl(); I was told that third and fifth are the grades when they really learn alot of new material, so fourth shouldn't be too bad. I would recommend getting him a bit ahead of the ball academically so that he has some wiggle room for adjustment and so forth. There is tons of new material in fourth grade. I'd pick his weak spot and get him ahead of the ball. It will make him feel more confident and ease the adjustment of a large class.

Here are the big fourth grade topics: 4 digit subtraction, long division, add/subtract decimals, add/subtract fractions, five paragraph essays types including--response to literature, summary, narrative. I had my son up to speed on 3 digit long division before 4th grade started, and it made him feel like he was on top of things. Jessica N39934.8999305556

We had no problems going to 4th grade. He was actually happy finally getting letter grades, and teachers saw how smart he was.

He is now in middle school this year for 6th grade and the transition went well. Does he have a IEP/504 in place?

As long as my son's meds are in place, he is good to go. He needs an increase because I see them wearing off early, and no bad feedback from school - still "a pleasure to have in class"

I worry every year for the next year. I too have been thinking about next year for him. He has the right kids with him and I want that to stay with him in classe again. He finally has friends!!

My son has been in a school with 32 kids a class since 1st grade. 4th was his best grade because of the teacher. He is now in 5th getting readt to go to middle school. This is making me nervous.

My 9 yr old has done pretty well academically in 3rd grade.  His meds are working and his grades are fine.  THere are 3 classes of 19 kids.  Next year, there will 2 rooms of 30 kids.  I realize that moving from the primary grades to the intermediate grades will bring changes.  Do any parents have insight on their child's experiences/differences moving into the 4th grade?  I don't want to panic, but do want to be prepared.  Oh, who am I kidding?  I am panicking, I just want some reassurance.

Thanks
