adderall xr - problems with tolerance | ADHD Information

i'm taking generic adderall.  I'm supposed to take 10mg 2xday but when I started noticing that the effects weren't noticable (both the positive and side effects), I bumped up one dose to 15mg but that just made me jittery.  I see my doctor on the 15th and my therapist on the 14th.  This will definitely be a topic of discussion.  I'm kinda like, why bother taking a medication that literally has no effect on me?  It's frustrating because other people take these drugs to get high and I can't get it to do anything at all??

Try the generic.  It's much cheaper than the brand.  I have no ADHD prescription medical coverage.  It's all out of pocket for me.
I have been taking adderall xr for almost 3 months.  I started off with 20mg and at first I loved it.  I had very few side effects (a little insomnia for the first 2-3 days, poor appetite) and within the first 48 hours I was making lists,  accomplishing the tasks on my lists, organizing closets, rethinking how to run the PTO... on top of it all I was amazingly calm, and it was so quiet in my head - only one thought at a time!  However, by the end of the second week,  I was back to procrastination, forgetting things, taking 30 steps to do a task that should take 2 steps - the usual.  The side effects were also completely gone.  The dr. upped the meds to 30 mg a day, and the same thing happened: first week great, second week good, but no effect on the ADD symptoms (and no side effects) by week 3.  The dr then suggested that I take two 30 mg doses daily, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Turns out that my insurance will not pay for that and I cannot afford to pay for it myself, so that's out.
I'm going back to see the dr this week and I'm trying to inform myself as much as possible before I go.  If anyone has had similar experiences, or has any suggestions I would be very grateful!
In case it's of any use, I also take (generic) Zoloft (which also doesn't seem to be working well these days).  I was diagnosed with ADD about 8 years ago.  I took ritalin with good results, but stopped when I got pregnant.  When I finished breastfeeding, I wanted to try strattera because I had not enjoyed the downs when the ritalin wore off.  The strattera seemed to significantly increase my depression, so I went back to the drawing board and here I am.
