any kids on Abilify? | ADHD Information

My son was just put on it today by the doctor. He was on the risperdal and it made him more aggressive. We have no idea why but it did. Tonight was the first time he got the Abilify 2mg. He was a totally different child. Im going to keep my fingers crossed!! I hate when the "honeymoon" stage ends and we are back to square one.
Josh tried risperdal first and it made him more hyper, then tried abilify did basically the same, he had terrible nights with those meds, he'd scream in his sleep and sit up or try to get up while sleeping, as soon as the meds were stopped the night issues stopped.OMG last night was the first time david took them and he did the same thing last night! 

We have tried Concerta and Medadate with no help. My doctor wants to try Abilify. anyone have luck with it??

Well, first off, Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic
that isn't normally used to treat ADHD. Though, judging
by your sigline, your son has a lot more going on than
"just" ADHD, similarly to my son.

My older son is on Risperdal (comparable to Abilify) and
has been for 3years now. He's been on varying dosages,
from .25mg, 2x a day to .75mg 1x a day and .5mg 1x a
day.

He is currently on 1mg, 1x a day and has been on this
same dosage now for a year. He's been on it for
increased aggression and mood swings (not bipolar, just
autism issues). He's done fantastically on it, and
initially, it did really help with his focus and
attention issues. That part of the effects wore off
after about a year and we tried ADHD meds which also
helped initially, and stopped working. We've since tried
3 other dosages and meds and finally took my son off of
any ADHD meds in December and he's done great ever
since!
