finding the right medication | ADHD Information

Okay, well adderall and concerta worked similarly for me. I had good results
with both and side effects with both. Worse side effects with concerta but it
did seem to help me more, however, I had good results with adderall too. It
is hard to know because some of the medications I have not taken since I
was a kid and I hated them so much that I probably had a problem with
everyone of them. I plan on trying new medication over the summer. I just
don't know of any others besides the ones I have listed. I get some side
effects with every med. Stomach ache sometimes, not hungry, quite, etc.So, here's the deal. I have switched medication at least 7 or 8 times since
I was 11(I'm 18 now). I am a freshman in college and my medicine
doesn't seem to be working out so I want to switch. I am going to make
this post more ADD friendly but listing things instead of just one long
paragraph because I know I rarely read long posts like that. Currently I
am taking focalin xr 20 mgs and have been since I was 15.

Here are my problems with my current medicine:
~It seems to wear off too soon. I am in class and busy all day. I can never
settle down in the library until about 7 but my medicine has worn off
~I am not hungry at all, it is really hard to eat when you aren't hungry but
I am already skinny so that can be a problem.
~I don't like the transition between taking a stimulant and not, like on
days I skip or when it wears off, it just isn't smooth
~it doesn't seem to be working as well as it used too

Here is what I have tried:
~concerta (best results but worse side effects)
~adderall (similar results of concerta but not as effective)
~adderall short acting (don't really remember)
~ritalin short acting (just didn't seem to work)
~ritalin LA (still didn't work that well)
~Wellbutrion (i don't know, not a huge difference but I was not very
observant of the effects)
~straterra (I also don't know because it is not a stimulant so it is harder to
tell and I was younger so I was not very observant of its effects)
~Focalin short acting (kinda helped, but short acting never works as well
for me and can never remember to take it)
~Focalin xr (works well and has the least side effects, but some of the
problems i listed above)

So here's what I am thinking:
~vyvanse (I heard it lasts longer doesn't have the "coked out" feeling of
adderall, also that it is made by the same people who make concerta and
I had good results with that)
~Straterra (I know some people take this with a stimulant to help kinda
balance things out, and I really want a good balance with my medicine)

So, what do you guys think? Any other suggestions or medications not
listed here? I appreciate any advice and just really want to find good
medication that works for me. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist
in a couple weeks at the student health center and I want to come with
ideas. musicfanatic39948.9973842593Vyvanse is made from a derivative of adderall not concerta. Concerta is Ritalin based. It did last the full 12 hours for my son 10 at the time, but caused alot of aggressivness and anger and also gave him bad motor tics. We went off immediatly. But, if you have taken Adderall without side effects then I would give it a try I seems like a promising med.
