(i am sorry if this was already answered i didnt take the time to read i just wanted to ask) ok, i am 16 and was diagnosed with ADD and depression when i was 12 or 13... both of these medications made me very irritable, anxious, and angery so i stopped taking them all together... i recently went to my doctor and said i wasnt feeling well mentally he wanted a better idea of what i meant, and when i said i wanted a better quality of life he put me on vyvance... this med was (lots of emphisis on was) amazing i could think clearly i was able to focus on every thing to the point where i wanted to do my Homework... after 1 weeks on a 20 mg (half of a 40mg pill) i had to bump it up to 30 mg (3/4 of the 40) and i was still feeling amazing, doing chores willingly taking care of everything around the house all sorts of things parents usually gripe at their kids about. then the 40mg... thats when i started noticing i wasn't getting the same feeling i once was, it started small with my dad having to ask me to do a chore, and it snowballed... i am currently on a 60mg and dont feel like i'm taking the med at all i feel very down and i dont want to do anything but go to sleep and listen to music, not angery or irritated like on my other meds just... a little off... i am now feeling worse than before sums this up... i dont know if this is going to get better... i'm worried, scared and confused... has this happened to anyone else if it has did you get better... please help Hi, My 7 year old son took Vyvanse 20 mg and we just stopped taking it because of emotional issues - depression, anger, crying, whining, wanting to be a different boy, wanting a different family, etc. I took him off of it over the weekend, and the depression was gone, yet he still needs something to help him with hyperactivity, impulsiveness, attention. My doctor and I agreed to put him back on Focalin XR 10 mg and see if he does okay until the end on school (June 19th), then I am going to try to help him with diet (Feingold or wheat free). You can read my posts "anyone tried stopping meds cold turkey?" Kathy Vyvanse was a mess for my son.... worked well in the beginning just like with you, then it all fell apart even as we tried to increase dose.... I have yet to hear from someone having a good experience with it, unfortunately.Audrey Vyvanse is great for my son, but he doesn't have depression. I would definitely bring this up to your doctor. My son had a horrible reaction to the first drug he was on - Concerta, it literally made him psychotic. Obviously different people respond to all the drugs differently. If you are feeling worse on a drug you shouldn't take it. Period. When we started the medication I made a deal with my son - if it made him feel like someone "different" or like he wasn't himself anymore, we would stop it, no matter what positive effects it had. I love my son just the way he is - I didn't want him to "change" - I just wanted him to be able to live each day without being driven half crazy with the frustration of trying to concentrate. It's possible that you actually need a combination of medicines. My son has been prescribed 3 medications by his doctor, although only one is controlled, the other 2 are over the counter meds. That you're worried it isn't going to get better is a good enough reason to try something else. People bang their heads against the wall to get rid of migraines - sometimes it actually works - sometimes it makes the headache worse, so they stop and try something different. You deserve to try something different so you can feel better. Take care of yourself. :-) |
