Canadian moms adhd financial help | ADHD Information

Hi,

I originally just sent in the form and shortly afterwards another form was sent out the doctor for additional info. I was told by the CRA to send in a written request on paper for additional (retroactive) years as would be stated on the T2201 by your doctor. Mine dated back 10 years. If you choose to wait until your T2201 (Disability tax credit) is "approved" officially it will take another month to adjust your retroactive taxes so I suggest as did the nice lady at CRA to send it all at the same time.

Goodluck,

Tara

I am also planning to apply for the disability tax
credit.

Did you just send in the form? Or did you add a letter
explaining the situation?

I just want to make sure that all moms (and dads too) out there are aware that most children with add/adhd qualify for substantial financial support. Our children qualify (with the help of their paediatrician/psychologist) for the disability tax credit (,000) and also monthly child disabiliy support monthly.

I was only aware after another mom told me but I was frustrated that I have never been told before. I have had the T2201 form (available online) completed and it was accepted. I have received a significant return and they have and usually do go back 10 years.

I now can provide the extra tutoring and support that my son requires without the financial concerns. If you have any questions about how to go about this or where you can get other info...ask me.

Good luck,

Family of Five

Oh my goodness!

I just have to say that we also qualified!!

They are going to go back to 2003 - this will also
really help us!!!

Why don't they have something like this in the US?  Why don't they have something like this for adults?  After all, kids with ADHD grow up to be adults with ADHD.  I feel jipped as an adult in the US.  And our health care reform isn't going to change much for me and my individual situation.

Thanks so much for posting this info.  I have been trying to find out what help was available and was unaware of the tax credit.  My stepson has just been diagnosed with FASD after many years of trying to find out the cause of all his behavioral difficulties, ADHD and learning disabilities. I will definitely be looking into this.
