Strattera | ADHD Information

My 7 y/o ds does not respond to stimulant medication.  I just learned of Strattera.  Does anyone know if this medication would be appropriate for a 7 yar old?  Any info. on the drug would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,My DS started Strattera when he was 9 years old.  It worked well but we ended up changing when he was 11 because of we thought Ritalin XR would work better.  I wouldn't hesitate giving it a try.  It takes 2-3 weeks to kick in, so be ready for that.  You probably won't see results the first day.

How many stimulant meds have been tried? Straterra is a blood level medication so the patient has to ramp up until maximum benefit is seen which normally takes 4 to 6 tweeks. We have a forum specifically for inforamtion about Straterra. If you have the patience read through it There are 4 years of posts so there is a lot of information. Good luck and welcome

ADHD Message Boards: FDA Warns About ADHD Drug Strattera

I didnt like Straterra, I liked the sound of it being a non stimulant but it stopped working all together. I did like it the first year or so though. My son started it at age 6

My son was 7 when they switched him to strattera. I wanted to try it because I was concerned with the "stimulant" label  (shame on me).... Strattera made my son pretty much not able to communicate again (not use his words)...But I've heard good things about it from others. I think it depends... I say give it a try- I was told it will either work- or it wont work at all. Good luck!
