Propranolol / Inderal Mood swings | ADHD Information

I am looking for anyone who has used this medication. (propranolol / inderal) My son's psych wants to put him on a atypical antipsychotic for mood swings I think that is way to harsh. He has a history of failing on medication.

Failed meds include: Stratera (sp), focalin xr, focalin, vyvanse, tenex, zoloft, resperidal and one other that is escaping my memory at the moment. All of these made him more aggitated and have more mood swings. He really does better with no med but he still is hyper and has anxiety.

any thoughts please let me know.

Sherri39971.5207060185sounds to me like you need a new doctor. any doctor who "experiments" and tries this many medications obviously has no idea what he is doing. I agree with the above poster, sounds like you need a new doc....

....but having said that....

I use Inderal/propanolol for a neurological condition (it's a beta-blocker normally prescribed for high blood pressure), and I find it smooths me out a bit mood- and anxiety-wise. But it also makes me sleepy, cold and fat, so you have to weight the good with the bad....

HI I think the new doc idea is the best so far. I am sorry to here about your reaction to propranolol. All of the med failures were tried over a period of 1.5 years but obviously the target was not determined correclty for the correct med to be prescribed. Sometimes I just want to give up and let him be the way he wants to be.
