If swallowing a pill is an issue and you can't find a way to keep the patch on, Focalin XR capsule can be opened up and sprinkled on yogurt.  There are some other meds that can be used this way too.  We used Focalin XR and then switched to Vyvanse, but my son can swallow pills now.  He practiced using M&M mini's a couple of times and now he can do it.  My son started meds when he was almost 5 and has been on them for 1 year.  It really helps a lot!hello..my name is jen..i have 2 kids..my tater is 4 and my bug is 20 months...my 4 yr old has always been a very high maintenance kid lol weve been through the RINGER with him..he has a diagnosis of adhd and developmental coordination disorder..we finally have a very good child psychologist, a wonderful neurologist and a behavior specialist that is coming once a week to help us get some routine and stuff going with him..right now he is on the Daytrana patch..10 mg...and i think we are seeing some improvement...my question is this..im having an issue with keeping it on him..he sweats alot..weve tried the hip..but that didnt work good cause he still uses pull ups and it was getting rubbed off and stuck to the pull up..so i called the pharmacist and he said anywhere there isnt hair..so i put it on his upper arm today...but thats not working good either...i used some of that self sticking wrap like they use when they draw blood (had some left over from an injury lol) to keep it on a bit longer at least...so i was wondering if anyone else's child used the patch and if theres a "magic" place to put it where it will stay on? Try his back or ankle?  The best tape that sticks to anything is duct tape.  You probably could use that to tape the patch in place.  If it's on his back, then he can't reach it, pull it off, etc.  The ankle has thinner skin and socks can keep it in place.  You could even use a lightly bound ace bandage around the ankle.
