Daytranna | ADHD Information
My daughter has been on the patch for almost two years with great results. We don't leave it on as long as it says to. she wears it from about 6:30 a.m. till about 2:00 p.m. on school days. She had trouble playing sports with it on so we stopped using it on sport days-weekends. We noticed that heat and/ or vigorous exercise on warm/hot days turns her into a zombie and she turns red and sweatty. You may try removing it sooner (which also helped with appetite suppresion and insomnia). We liked being able to use it for short periods of time (sometimes just for three-four hours), enough to get her attending to things.
For the most part, it has worked out the best for us. She is 11, is on a low dose of 15mg. AD/HD inattentive type, minor hyperactive etc.
Good luck.
Welcome 4X4Mama Is the treating physician a specialist in med management.....i.e. psychiatrist? Are you certain that its the meds elevating your child's blood pressure? I suggest that you take your child off the meds and monitor his pressure for a couple of days. If his pressure returns to normal then perhaps you should speak to the doctor about trying another med in the same family. If his pressure is still elevated then perhaps its not the meds and you need to look further iunto why his pressure is elevated. Good luck and please keep us informed. Can anyone help? My son is 11 and has been on 2 or 3 different meds for add. Last April, we changed doctors and he put him on Daytranna (patch). He has been doing wonderfull on this; best results yet out of anything we have tried. 2 weeks ago, he started having problems. Complete resting pulse around 110 and elevated blood pressure. Called dr. he said to cut patch in half; this did not help. Now what should I do??? Any help please!!I would stop using it if he is having problems. What dosage is he on? Go to
a lower dosage patch if the dr. says it's OK. There is a 10mg, 15mg?, 20mg
and 30mg I believe. Have you tried Concerta or Focalin XL? Those are the
same "family" as Daytrana (Ritalin) and might work well. There are other
options, you might need to try something else. His is 20mg. Thanks for replying. I don't know what to do! We tried cutting the patch in half (per dr. instructions) but that didn't help.

Try asking for a 10mg patch instead of cutting the 20mg. If that doesn't
work, switch meds. Best of luck. Once you find the right med, it will be so
much better. It's tough at first, but don't give up.
