when focalin wears off | ADHD Information

my son just started focalin 2.5 mg.  It seems to be working very well.  we've tried 2 meds other than the focalin and the side effects to were too much to bare.  However this seems to be working quit nicely.

my question is this... After the med wears off (usually about 4 hrs or so) for about an hour or 2 after he is super hyper.  Then it goes away.  I am grateful that this is the only downside that we've found so far but just wondering if anyone else deals with this.

My DS had the same issue only with Concerta.  It is called rebounding.  We just dealt with it because the med worked so well otherwise.  It did make it impossible for him to do sleepovers.  One thing that worked well for us that we discovered by accident was swimming.  He was on the swim team and practice was in the evenings (around the time his meds would start wearing off but before he started getting really hyper).  On the evenings that he had practice, he had very little rebounding.  I think it was due to an hour of just swimming laps.  I know that won't work for most kids but thought I would throw it out there just in case.  Jumping on a trampoline might give the same help.

Good luck!

My son's rebound on Focalin is horrible.  He will clean and organize his room during the day, then literally trash it the next morning....
