Vyvanse on empty stomach | ADHD Information

My 5 year old son just started 20 mg vyvanse. Yesterday he took it with breakfast and had a good day. Today I gave it to him before breakfast. He has been moody, and refuses to eat anything. Is this difference in effect due to taking it with or without food? Any advice appreciated.Refusal to eat is very likely directly due to the vyvanse--stimulants do that (kill appetite, especially first few weeks/months)!  So giving it with a meal or after sounds like the best way to go.  Taking with our after food may diminish/eliminate the grouchiness--let's hope so, eh?! when my son was on vyvanse, he absolutely could NOT take it
without food, as he'd promptly throw up. He had to eat
before taking the meds so he had something in his stomach.

I would say definitely feed him BEFORE he takes his meds as
if he's not eating well, that could cause him to be grumpy.

HTH!I've heard the meds work better when taken w/ a high protein breakfast (eating while taking the medicine or eating shortly beforehand).Mom2ADHDboy40041.8444212963
