Stright to dexedrine, sounds fishy even to me.
You should try concerta. If Adderall isn't doing it Dexedrine won't either. However, Ritalin (which is what concerta is) tends to work where adderall and dexedrine fail.
While you need to listen to them and hear them out, I also feel extremely strong about only you know your body. If you are sure of how you feel, you need to be assertive and tell her/him that you strongly prefer a different choice in your treatment options. Any doctor who doesn't work with their patient, listen etc needs to be fired. It is always good to get a second opinion anyways so explore your options.
I had to try three different drugs and I am glad I did. I felt what "didn't work" and because of that I knew what finally did.
How much adderall are you on. Most doctors start people off on 5mg - 10mg which is really low. A lot of folks need to have the med upped in the first week or two because your body quickly adjusts to the small dose.
I don't blame you about the straterra I wouldn't want to go on that either. Maybe you can right out all the ideas you have and ask the doctor questions about them when you get there. It's easier if they are written in front of you. Also doctors get instantly defensive when you tell them what to prescribe if you pace the session more like a question and answer period then you will probably run into less resistance.
