| Concerta Vs. Vyvanse | |||

Hi. I have been on 20 mgs of Adderall 3x a day for about 4 years now. I have found it doesnt seem to be as effective as it once was. I had heard of Vyvanse and asked my Doc if I could try that. Well because of her lack of knowledge with that rx she wasnt comfortable with prescribing it. So she gave me Concerta. There wer pros but more cons. I could sleep at night easy. I was actually in bed by 9:30 instead of 2am. I didnt need to take my Zanax, and I didnt experience any crash. The cons were few but not good. I was very quick to anger, I felt no emotion almost like a zombie, and I didnt want to do anything. So I had them switch me back to my Adderall. My question is has anyone gone from adderall to vyvanse and if so what was your experience? Also has anyone gone from Concerta to Vyvanse? I liked how the Concerta was once a day and it stayed pretty level but the stim in it just didnt agree with me. Adderall XR was too up and down for me and didnt last long enough. What is anyones experience with Vyvanse and is it worth hooking up with a Doc that will prescribe it? My Doc says I am on the highest dose (60 mgs a day) that she can prescribe of the Adderall. Thanks for any help! Vyvanse is my first ADD drug. I was on 40mg of that but it caused paranoia and mild(if that can ever be mild) hallucinations. I would not recommend taking this unless you are a night person or if you take a very small dose. Vyvanse also affected my eating habits; food lost its appeal but I was always thirsty. I also would not recommend taking this drug if you have Turrettes/ tic disorder because it can make you tics much worse. I might be just random but sometimes they get so bad that talking normally becomes a challenge. I might try a lower dose if the side effects dont change. Vyvanse definitely takes some getting used to. My son was on Vyvanse for 1 year and had terrible anger and tics from it. Now he is on Concerta and at the right dose it works pretty well. He still needs a booster of Focalin in the late afternoon as he metabolizes quickly.[QUOTE=salu]Vyvanse is my first ADD drug. Is the medication still making you paranoid and hallucinate? Does your doctor know about this? I am concerned because I had a psychotic episode from wellbutrin xl and didnt know it until 4 weeks later my mother addressed me. I remember not feeling right when I 1st started taking it but thought it was a side effect that would go away. I know what you mean by not being able to talk normally. Its almost as if you can't speak with out tripping on your words and slurring a bit. My Adderall made me do that for about a week and then it went away. |
