so now about one week on 10 mgs and three days on 10 mgs two times a day instead of one.

1: CAN ADDERALL XR CAUSE DEPRESSION?  I FEEL DEPRESSED LAST TWO DAYS NOW BUT CAN BE SITUATIONAL BUT NOT REAL  SURE YET?

2: CAN ADDERALL XR CAUSE APPETITE INCREASE?  SEEMS I'VE BEEN MORE HUNGRY SINCE BEING ON THIS MED AND WANTING MORE SWEETS AND CARBS.

3: CAN ADDERALL XR CAUSE A PLACEBO EFFECT?  I DO NOT FEEL ALOT OF ANYTHING AS OF YET BUT ONLY A SLIGHT INCREASE IN WANTING TO GET SOME THINGS DONE LIKE I WENT GROCERY SHOPPING YESTERDAY AND I HATE DOING THAT, THEN RAN SOME ERRANDS AS WELL.  BUT FAUGHT WITH MYSELF TO GO DOWN STAIR AND ORGINIZE BASEMENT MESS FROM CHRISTMAS THINGS,BUT FELT I COULD OF OR SHOULD OF.

4: IS THIS SUPPOSE TO MAKE YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING OR HOW DOES IT WORK?  I AM THINKING THAT I SPENT THE FIRST WEEK OR SO ON THIS STUFF WITH SIDE EFFECTS OF ANXIETY AND HEADACHES, BUT NOW LAST TWO DAYS HAVE FELT MY BODY FINALLY FEELING RELAXED MORE SO BUT FIGHITNG AGAINST THE FEELING BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A NEW FEELING.

Hi Jamieileana, I'm on adderall 20 mg 3 times daily. Some I can relate to.

1. In my expeirence, the depression has been situational. Such as not being able to hold a job. Which is a real problem.
2. Increase in appitite? Not me. I lost 40 pds. and I never really feel hungry.
3. Adderall gets me motivated to do even things I really don't want to do, like as you mentioned shopping, but after the adderall starts to wear off, I usually feel the same way. Like I should do something, probably could, but I usually either do a half-ass job or not at all.
4. I think I understand what your saying. I felt anxiety, and still do sometimes, and the headaches? I have them ALL THE TIME! Fiorecet works to knock out some, but I still can feel it! I was given Klonipin for anixiety. The combo of adderall and Klonopin seems to meet in the middle to take the egde off. You're lucky your body made it's own adjustments! Just go with it and enjoy the new feeling b/c it's probably what non-ADD/ADHD people feel most of the time.

I am on SSRIs in addition to my Adderall XR.  Depression sucks.  Have you been diagnosed with clinical depression?  If not, it's likely that it's situational.  Going on meds can make you feel a little depressed anyway.  When I went on Adderall XR I was a little depressed about it.  However, my depression can be horrible - I become numb, unable to cry and feel nothing but sadness.  Currently, I am on an SSRI, Adderall XR and a benzo.  It's working.  I feel pretty good.   I am more focused, better concentration and actually able to get things done.

When I had a lot of anxiety Celexa plus adderall worked great for me. Never gained weight on it lost about 30 pounds the first month I took it though.

The side effects from Adderall usually last about 2 weeks and you don't really see how well the meds work until after that initial adjustment period.

Anything (even a tic tac) can cause a placebo effect when you are expecting something to happen. Some people get so worried about side effects that they devolope them when they wouldn't normally or more severe than if the were just relaxed and waited to see what happens.

Adderall starts working as soon as you take it so there is no real reason to believe the benefits you are experiencing are just a placebo effect. Sometimes the benefits are hard to see the first 2 weeks while your adjusting but many people feel a difference the first day.

For me I noticed an improvement the first day but it wasn't until the side effects ended that I goit to see how well the med worked for me
