Should I just tell them I want adderall | ADHD Information

A decent doctor will want to hear how you've responded to various medications.  Definitely tell them the experiences you've had with Adderrall, Strattera, Zoloft, and anything else!

Thank you for you answer. Ive also done adderall with zoloft and its worked well for years. My adhd isnt being treated properly, and I think thats the reason I feel more anxiety and depression. Mostly anxiety. Hopefully it works out.

I just went to see a new doctor to get back on adderall (i decided to switch to strattera for a couple of months to see if it worked better), and now I feel like im going to have all these back and fourth visits before they decide I need medication, then give me something ive never tried before. I just tried strattera which I hated, do you think I have a good chance to getting back on adderall since I've taken adderall successfully for years. My other doctor doesn't want to put me back on adderall because he thinks my mood is doing well without it and adderall could interfere with that. but honestly my mood has gotten alot worse!! Im so frustrated, I switched doctors and they gave me zoloft to treat my anxiety first, and I will be so pissed off if they try to put me on strattera again! I just tried it and it doesn't work. I don't mind trying something else that might work, but if they are going to give me drugs, I want something that will work. Should I just tell them I only want adderall because its the only thing ive taken in the past that has worked for me? sorry if this doesnt make sense..I havnt been thinking straight lately.Jenn - The doctor can't read your mind.  If you want Adderall, then by all means, tell him.  Tell him why you don't feel Strattera isn't the best.  My belief is that when we have all these "extra" conditions, they all have to be treated.  I've done anti-depressants over the years and they didn't help because I wasn't treating the primary cause - my ADHD.  Now that I'm treating the ADHD, I'm taking a low dose anti-depressant and I'm doing better.  The anxiety has calmed down too.

so, yes, tell the doctor that you want adderall.  but be open to the zoloft and other medications to treat your "extras". :)

Good luck.
