having problems yet AGAIN! | ADHD Information

well its definetly all changing i guess on tuesday when we go in... even the first dose of adderall xr10mg did NOTHING! she has been plain out her old usually self with an attitude for 2 days now. i thought maybe it was a fluke yesterday , but not 2 days in a row...

so i guess were back to the drawing board! im pretty sure the celexa will be kept as well as the trazidine... but i guess we will go from there..

I think I mentioned this in a different post so sorry if I'm repeating myself (I have a horrible memory!)  But you've had a least some very good results with a stimulant so it's highly likely that you just need to find the right stimulant.

When my son switched from Adderall to Ritalin I was afraid of the change also, but it went surprisingly smooth!  It's not like going totally off all meds then starting a new one.  You can take Adderall one day and Ritalin (or many other meds) the next day so the transition should be smoother than you expect. Unless she cannot tolerate the new med at all and in that case you should know that right away.

And yes this process is a rollercoaster!  I feel for you!  and I'm sure it's not over for me either.  It's just a matter of time before things will inevitably need adjusting.  But it should be reasurring to you that you have a doctor that seems good and knowledgible. Also, it's good that he/she is trying all of the combinations with Adderall before switching to another.  My doctor said you MUST try everything you can with a particular type of medication before moving to another.  She said it may be "the one" but you've passed it up because you didn't adjust the timing, dose, etc.  So it's good that your doc is trying to adjust everything fully before trying to switch. But it may be time to move on...

Good luck at your next apt and keep us posted!

yeah... i guess we are on to something else.

my assumption would be focalin, since she has said the name more than the others, except vyvanse.. but insurance doesnt cover it.

unless u can increase the dose of adderall xr above 10 mg? but im not sure that would help, i think it would be worse..

dang. finding the right mixture is really a rollercoaster isnt it?

ok dd, 9 is taking adderall xr 10 mg, celexa 10mg, trazadine 25mg at bed.  when we had the clonodine in there, she was calmer during the rebound time at about 5pm and alos went to bed wth the trazadine around 10:30-11. we pulled it out of the mix and added an adderall booster 2.5mg at 5pm... which is doing nothing but making her jittery! she is still hyper and impulsive then at night. and shes not falling asleep until 12- 12:30 . although she is sleeping through the night.

i really dont want to switch the adderall.. i dont know why. i just feel like if we do we are starting all over again and we have come so far! lol!

any ideas or thoughts?

Have you tried anything in the ritalin family?   You could give concerta or something similar a try and switch back if it didn't work.

I've had a friend where when things weren't going well with her son,  under the supervision of the doctor,  took him off everything and started over.   It helped figured out what the underling symptoms where vs. what were side effects from the medication he was on.
