Quitting meds | ADHD Information
vit B helps also.Jessica N40077.9225
I have been struggling if my Dexedrine was working and if the Trazodone I've been taking for sleep was making a difference. I finally went to my prescriber yesterday and she wants me to try generic Adderall XR. My insurance doesn't cover the cost of my ADHD meds and this medication/prescription would cost me over 0 for the one month supply. She said that while she believes I have ADHD, there may be a mood issue underlying it. Mood disorder? I think that's the latest in mental health issues and maybe she's just caught up in it. I know I have depression and I thought the Trazodone would not only help with sleep but maybe take a bite off of the depression. Not only did it not help as much as I wanted with the sleep but I think it actually made me more depressed. However, in its' defense, the sleep I was getting was more sound. She also said that most people respond to medication and she's not familiar with people not responding. I am quite despondent because noone can seem to pinpoint what is wrong with my brain chemistry and noone can seem to make it better (I don't expect a "fix" or a cure-all). I am frustrated from the lack of effect of the medications. So, I've decided to just quit them all and go back to the scatter-brain. Go back to being the woman who can't organize her thoughts to save her life and who can't control her behavior to make a difference.
Of course, there's other things that are going on to contribute to my sadness/depression but I won't go into them now. Trying to stay focused on this topic. Just wanted to share my experiences. Thanks.
kjl269140075.5979976852I think 10% don't respond to meds.
Omega-3 helps depression and mood, and ability to manage stress. 2000-3000 mg a day.
Have you explored the formulations that are intended to have a stimulating effect? I have not looked in the adult section, but you can always double the kid dosage. Things like Attentive Child, and Pedi-Active? I think these two contain DMAE. They are in the health food stores.
Aerobic exercise seems to really help some as well.Jessica N40075.5768055556Jessica - Thanks for the suggestions. I think I am just going to take a break for a while. I'm quite emotionally drained. I may get back to the gym soon. :)
You should really try krill oil if medicines don't work. I take 15-20 capsules a day and it really works. It even works better then dexedrine!
