Generic Adderall: brand vs. dose mistake? | ADHD Information

Share
I take 10 mg generic adderall 2x a day in am and afternoon- they are oral blue pills with 972 on one side and 10 on the other.  They are fast acting not the xr- and only last about 4 hours for me.  This works good for me.  Try and break the 20mg pill in half and see if that works better for you.  Either way though you should figure out what pills they gave you at first.  For me the 2 ir pills work better than the xr pills that last longer.  I like it too because then some days I can just take one dose instead of two. Like on the weekends.I believe that the 20 mg pills are orange-whether it is generic or not. You were given the wrong dosage with the blue pills.  For the record, we have noticed no differnce in my son whether he takes generic or brand name adderal. My name is Anthony, first time poster. Was hoping someone could help me.

I was prescribed 20mg of Generic Adderall once a day. I had my prescription filled at a local Walmart Pharmacy and they gave me "BLUE" pills made by BARR. When I went to get my script refilled the following month, they gave me "ORANGE" pills made by BARR. The thing is...BARR doesn't make "BLUE" 20mg tablets. And now the orange pills don't work nearly as well as the blue ones did.

The blue pills had the EXACT same size and shape as the orange ones, only difference was the color (and efficiency). I can't figure out if the blue pills were a different generic (pharmasist said they only carry Barr) OR...if they made a mistake and gave me the 10mg or 15mg pills made by Barr (which are both blue and have the same size/shape as the orange ones)?

Could it be that if indeed they've made a mistake and gave me the wrong strength that   a lower dosage works better for me, because the blue ones work REALLY WELL....or that I was simply given a different generic brand (20mg) that worked better then the Barr brand?

I get online through my phone so it's kinda difficult to look up info. But I have tried looking for pictures of other BLUE 20MG generics for Adderall with no success. Can somebody be cool and help me out? I'd really appreciate it bcuz this is something I'm having a hard time figuring out on my own. Anyway thnx for reading -Ant.

By the way i've contacted my pharmacy already and of course they were no help :(
I took a look at pill images at this site:  http://www.healthcentral.com/adhd/drug-information-115332-73 .html   and it looks like the pharmacy gave you 10 mg mixed amphetamine salts made by Barr.  As you describe, the only diff between Barr's 10 and 20 mg pills are the color and the number imprinted.  The images on this site show the Barr 10 mg as oval, blue, with 972 stamped on the side.  The 20 mg. pills is oval, orange, with 973 stamped on the side.     If you have any of the blue ones left, save a couple and bring to your doc at your next visit.   It'd be a fortuitous mistake by the pharmacist if it leads you to discover that you can get by (for now) with half the dose orignially prescribed!

ps.  by the way, Dr. Russel Barkley observed that patients with ADHD Primarily Inattentive respond much better to low doses of stimulants, so your observation may coincide with his in this respect.
