Hi Does anyone on Paxil continuously gain weight? I have gained over 30 lbs in the year and a half on this, but when I started to wean off of it slowly, by the fourth day I was waking up weepy. I felt better physically off of it, but feel better mentally and emotionally on it..........I've tried other antidepressants but they never really worked and would give me side effects like rapid heartbeat and various other annoying effects. The Paxil I take is the long lasting one and I am on 25 mg XR
Any suggestions or other frustrated people? :)
Paxil and Effexor made me gain weight. Out of all the meds I've tried I like Celexa the best both in terms of results and it didn't make me gain weight. I actually lkost weight because I wasn't stressed and was happy for the first time in awhile.If you are stopping SSRIs I read a single dose of prozac can help. prozac has a long half life compared to the newer SSRIs so eliminates some of the rebound effects which the Drug companies still deny exist. You either have to switch meds or just let the withdrawal take it's course. Unfortunately whenever coming off antidepressants there is a period of withdrawal. You can lessen it by slowly decresing your dose over a few weeks. Withdrawal hits the hardest when you stop cold turkey.thanks. I probably need to speak to my doctor - but I thought I could do it on my own. I have been gaining weight continuously also. No matter what I do, i still gain. But I also can not get off Paxil - I tried but the side effects are too much to bear. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I am getting more and more depressed as I gain the weight.
