Thanks for the direct encouragment.
I got a few things better organized yesterday, Wednesday.
I am off work on Wednesday's and Thursdays, So I may make some more progress today. I am older, so I take more naps, and sometimes wake up at odd hours, with energyt o work, but I tell myself to go back to sleep, so that period of potential productivity is not utilized.
I drink a half spoon-ful of instant coffee, which gives me alertness for 5 to 6 hours.
Sometimes I feel so far behind, that it seems pointless to try to catch up. Or it seems confusing as to even where to start. I can sometimes stay confused for hours, without getting anything done at all. I can sometimes spend hours trying to thionk of better shortcuts, to cathc up the work, and accomplish nothing. I should try to start working, ith a pad available to wreite down ideas for shortcuts,as Iwork.
I am trying to pick something that can be focused on for a short period of time, maybe 30 minuts, to avoid falling further behind, such as sorting mail, Paying Bills, or listing receipts to look for for tax preparation. I strive for perfection, so I can also waste time thinking of how to do things better, rather than just getting started on some simple aspect of the issue/project.group-of-tasks.
..
I struggle with this all the time. I find it helps to keep a list of the things I do each day. I try to keep it super simple - I mark off columns or rows on a piece of paper and label them with the things I do most often (with a big section at the bottom for "other" stuff). I just put a tick mark in the right column when I do something. I'm always surprised at how much I actually got done.
It also seems to help to break tasks into smaller segments. It's much less overwhelming to tackle doing one load of laundry than it is to think about washing, drying, folding, and sorting ALL the laundry on the laundry room floor (trust me, there's a lot).
Along those same lines - keep your list of things to do very short. I have a bad habit of writing down EVERYTHING I have to do, no matter how trivial or unimportant. Then the sheer volume of tasks overwhelms me and I don't do anything. Limit your to do list to the things that absolutely have to get done today. Not things you want to do today...but things that will cause problems if they don't get done today.
I also put tasks on my calendar so I can see when they're "due." I'm very visual, so this helps me plan my time better.
Last, but not least, I have to second the idea of just doing it. Don't ponder it...just start doing whatever it is you need to do. Think of it as eating your vegetables so you can have dessert...saving the best for last...that kind of thing.
Emotional Blocks may cause my procrasinating, and failure to adequately plan, which I am lately hearing called the Executive Function of the brain, which involves procrastinating, and longer range planning.
How can I make this, or that, project more exciting?
What 15-30 minute task can I do to further some delayed project?
My productivity over the past two weeks has been too low. So I am attempting to hold myself more accountable by starting this thread.
..
I am procrastinating starting a computer course. Should have started a couple of weeks ago. so I am making this post to hod myself more acountable. I will start a Word coument on my computer, with some steps.one thing ive done is to shorten my to do list.
I mean i do have one that i keep in the garage and is longer that santas list. i keep it for archiving purposes!

but seriously i seem too quit too often .
when i feel overwhelmed i quit to soo. s
--
so with a shorter list im not driving myself crazy with too many steps.

the other thing ive had success with is to create a creative time im my routine.
====
first i have to go back about 2 years- i didnt even know what a creative outlet was.
its just personal time to focus on what i want to focus on ,.
once i got the hang of doing my own thing i would look forward to it. once a week thursdat night just me and the garage.
after that got i old i refected on it . i realized i should have a "productive ME" time everyday. i still get the bla's and mill around , but usually about 7-9 pm i wander off to be creative and complete some things.. .
to me its the adult version of play time... my favorite thing is downloading freeware and learning what it all does. but i also use that time to make a short list and then i get a snack.-- well its better than snackin all the time or for no reason.
it was really difficult for me to actually follow a routine it feels wierd i HATE routine. there i said it .
but i saw in my journaling that i dont neglect things when im stepping through a routine- i i decided i would just have to be a routime kinda guy. if i wanna be in control of life .
it took awhile to figure out the short list was less overwhelming .
