Switching from Aderrall to Vyvanse | ADHD Information

It's 3 a.m. and I'm posting a message on a website, wonderful.  So here's the deal.  I'm 32 and I've had ADHD.....for ever.  I finally stopped being so proud, admitted to myself that I needed help, and got it.  THANK GOD!  I've been on medication (Adderall) for about 18 months.  Things are going well, and as more time passes, it gets easier and easier to be normal.  On my last visit to my M.D., she asked me how my medication was working.  I replied that it was working well.  A couple of more seemingly innocent and caring questions, a response which could open the door, and her suggestion that I switch to Vyvanse.  I was told that it was the exact same thing, just a different release mechanism, providing a more consistant feeling with less side effects.  I have been taking it for a week now.  I haven't slept in four days.  I haven't had a good bowel movement for five days.  Tonight, as I was lying in bed, trying to figure out why, when my body can hardly move and I can't put together a coherrent sentence because my brain is running on empty, why I can't sleep.  So I got up and researched the drugs.  WOW.  What a load of crap I was fed.  They are not the same.  Some of the side effects; G.I.,  loss of appetitte, heart rate, blood pressure, and especially INSOMNIA, are real.  I wish I would have been made aware of these, then I could have caught it right away.  I will no longer take the Vyvanse, I'm going back to Adderall immediately.  Now I've got lots of catching up to do from my useless brain as of late (Back to College), thanks doc.  So, bottom line is, if your on Adderall and your M.D. wants to switch you when there really isn't anything wrong, JUST SAY NO!!!
