side effects after almost 2 years on meds
My son has been on vyvanse for about 2 years and straterra foe 1 year. We gor his meds filled and now 3 days later he is etreamyl focused, and he complains that he is different than the other kids and his brain won't stop. His 3 teachers @ school even noriced and called me. has anyone ever known of this? his new meds look the same and someone suggested that it could be a new batch of pills and the old ones were pushing their experation date.

do you mean "extremely focused"?
It could be that his dosages need to be increased. I believe as children grow, their bodies change and so do their needs. Brain chemistry can change, especially during puberty with all those hormones. I don't think it's the pills but probably something going on in his brain - biologically based. I would check with the doctor and see what your options are.
sorry my typing was so bad last night it was late for me. today he seems back to normal but yesterday was really strange, had a very hard time going to sleep also. thanks for the info i guess at 8 years old his body and hormones are changing and that could be it. I'll just keep an eye on him. Thankskjl2691 has a very good point, after two years i would be surprised if he DIDN'T need a dosage change, that may very well be the culprit. Good thinking, kjl2691. If those meds were any toher than the ones you described, I would say your dilemma sounds exactly like a pharmacy who switched you over to generic meds. A switch from brand to generic, or even one companys generic to another companys version of the same drug, can have exactly the effects you described. Sadly enough many generics are just not good quality at all, and stimulant ADHD meds have some ofthe worst generics I have ever seen in my life,. There really is a huge difference, or can be, rather. Anywho, neither Strattera or Vyvanse have generics available, so that is not going to be the issue. A dosage change sounds like a good start, and if that doesn't resolve anything, once again Tenex may be a good try, as i have seen other posters facing a very similar problem have their childs symptoms greatly improved with just a small dose of tenex/clonidine.
