ok... dd's meds have been all switched around numerous times... and heres where we are now:
celexa 10mg in the am
adderal 10mg in the am
adderal 5mg in the afternoon
trazadone 50mg at 7pm
melatonin 2.5mg at 10pm
and shes asleep between 10:30-11pm.
*ok. i rewrote this post since i tried the last idea and it made no difference.
dd is just crabby. constanty. short tempered, complains, mumbles under her breath. she takes the celexa to help with it, and it seems to in the am, but by afternoon it doesnt work anymore for it.
any ideas? ANYTHING?? i would like to call the pschy up asap about it, but wanted to gather a little info or ideas first.
thanks for any ideas!!!

sweetsouthern40147.7681018518I wish I could help.
I have zero credentials and nearly the same with meds.
MY questions are
Is there a comorbid? coexisting disorder?
Does she meet with a therapist for sessions to work on these behaviors?
Are her meals and meds meshing well? This was a big issue for me when i was on this stimulant. Without a mealtime routine I would get real unpleasent with anyone or anything that was in the way of eating so I could take my meds without getting the jitters. My wife frequently called me an aXXGoal during times when I had to wait on HER to get around to letting ME eat!
BECAUSE!!! I wasn't in therapy my FUSES were shorter BECAUSE!!! I am blind to what normal thinking is supposed to be . Without a therapist to help me redirect my emotions I just bit off heads, but it didn't satisfy my hungers.
Also Important that caffine be consumed sparingly. Adderal and caffine together are self defeating. caffine interferes with sleep. OMG I just searched "list of foods with caffine" OMG - ROCKET CHOCOLATE 42mg per piece! REALLY? oOHh PEOPLE THATS JUST SO...
POINT Besides insomnia caffine interferes with REM sleep. REM-STAGE2 sleep is more important than STAGE1,3,OR 4. We can be sleeping ,but caffine can still interfere with Rem stages for 4-7 hours after ingesting it. Anyone learnned about adhd knows that insomnia and adhd together is like gasoline and TNT powderkegs in magnifying glass factory. Black clouds on sunny days, I would say no caffine after 4pm Throw in some sweet chocolate and It's like putting a train on a rollercoaster- its quite a ride that's hard to contol.
ADHD jittery
Adderal jittery
caffine jittery
comordib? Emotionally irritable
And a complete guess here very little meat? Most meat has tryptophan not just turkeys. But turkey is low in fat BTW as opposed to ribeye.
oh' i'll just mess up this last point soo I'm gonna ask you to look up
tryptophan
on wikipedia
my spin - we eat it then we relax. Ever wonder why lions just lay around after gorging - it's not cause thier bellies are full - its cause they got thier fix of tryptophan.
We can only get it from eating it . We just like most alpha predators that hunt in anger, can't create it in our own bodies. We have to ingest it.
ok ok I know that's really out there on limb. After rereading my response im gonna go get some leftover turkey salad .

first i should have added shes only 9 and 52 pounds lol!
yeah shes not an eater. period. but we have been getting her to eat bits of this and that throughout the day, so i would say her food intake is ok as far as giving her the jitters. and i dont notice her shaking... or changes to do with eating.
she does not see a therapist. she barely talks to the pschy. in public she is incredibly she, especially with adults. so the pschy said after 5 months with here every 2 weeks... doing a therapist yet would be crazy since she wont converse much besides yes or no.
i guess maybe a med switch is in order? sigh.
i rewrote my original thread...
anyone?
I would have to advise to find another psych...a child psych would be best. My son sees one and is less irratible. He used to clam up but she had toys and let him play while she and I talked for the first few sessions and now he has no problem talking to her and tells her things he doesn't even talk to me about. So...it can't hurt to look around for another psych for her, something to think about.I agree...it sounds like you need a med change. It sounds like the timing could be better. If the meds are done correctly they souldn't be wearing off in the afternoon. She may need another dose of Celexa or Adderall. It may also be that the Adderall is making her aggitated. Adderall did that to my son. Was she like this before she started meds? A different stimulant may be in order. Ritalin works much better for my son and we added Tenex and it helps tremendouly! Good luck and let us know how it's going!
DS was very irratable with adderall XR. It was the wrong med for him.
I agree, look into changing meds.
Please update us with how you are doing!!
