Adderall XR vs. Vyvanse
I originally took Concerta which i stopped because it turned me into a suicidal 11 year old. I started Adderall XR after that which worked great for 3 years until others noticed i was getting irritable when it wore off. That was really the only side effect. I then switched to Vyvanse after that and it seemed to work great at first, but in reality i was getting a lot of side effects that i didnt realize were a result of the medication until recently. I developed a severce case of acne which went away almost immediatly when i stopped the medication. I developed insomnia and more recently sleep paralysis (when your mind is awake and your body is still asleep it feels like being paralyzed and is absolutely terrifying) both of which went away when i stopped the medication. I'm back on vyvanse and its 1 in the morning. School starts in 6 hours but i'm wide awake. I was wide awake at 7pm on adderall xr instead of 1am on vyvanse. I have no idea why vyvanse gave me acne and addreall xr didn't maybe something to do with how adderall xr and vyvanse are absorbed differently? Could it also be with adderall xr you actually have less drugs in you since the highest does for adderall xr is a very low does of vyvanse. I also feel like Vyvance works longer than Adderall XR but not as effectively. I just thought i'd share my story and see if anyone else has had any similar results. Okay, i can definitely relate. Seeing as Vyvanse and Adderall both contain dexamphetamines (although adderal also contains levo-amphetamines, although they are generally considered not near as effective and theoretically shouldnt make that much of a difference) you would think that there would not be any such issues. Well, as it seems, that is certainly not the case, at least for alot of people. I myswelf was looking forward to Vyvanse, as I figured it would just be a purer and therefore more effective form of adderall. For one, Although I definitely feel like the Vyvanse is more POTENT, i still definitely feel like adderall was more effective, and worked better for my symptoms. I have theories as to why, but nothing i can prove, nor anything that would help your situation, so I'll leave them aside. One thing that might be causing your acne and other bad side effects could be the drastically different time release mechanism, something about the lysic acid (I believe that's correct; or whatever it is they use to make it lisdexamphetmaines) or some other compund in the formulation, could be causing an allergic reaction in your body. Can't say for sure, but sounds like a very plausible theory. The only things that I will say that Vyvanse had over adderall for me was the time release mechanism. In adderall XR, I could never really feel that second dose kick in, it just never really seemed like I was getting that other dose. But with Vyvanse I definitely felt it, no doubt (although regardless of that I would still prefer adderall.) I would see about getting back on the adderall, and asking your doctor about adding tenex to your regimen. I see you are new here but you won't have to browse the forums for very long to see that lots of people have had great success with tenex in addition to their stimulant, and many people use it to counterbalance the exact same problem you are having.
