Vyvanse side effects? | ADHD Information
Hard to tell since side-effects can be so variable depending on person and even over time with same person. side effects are most apparent when starting up. since Vyvanse is a stimulant and stimulants tend to dry things out (throat, mouth, etc..) it seems like his coughing could be triggered by the Vyvanse. If so, you might see the dryness (side-effect) diminish in a couple-three weeks. hope it all works out for you and your son....
thanks for your message ...
we saw the doctor and she took him off the vyvanse ... with so many other med choices - she didn't want to take a chance with breathing difficulties ...
She's prescribe intuniv which we will start soon.
My son was recently diagnosed aspergers & adhd by a neuropsych.
We then went to a dev. beh. pediatrician who gave us a prescription for
vyvanse. He took 1/2 doses last thurs, fri & sat. and a full dose
on sunday and today... (20mg).
My son has very mild asthma ... usually brought on by colds or exertion... We have a nebulizer but use it rarely.....
Yesterday - he was coughing all day .. a dry cough that sounded like an
asthma cough and I gave him a nebulizer treatment twice... even so - he
coughed a lot at night until he finally stopped. This morning he seemed
a little better but still coughing and wheezy ... I gave him another
nebulizer treatment before sending him off to school. We're seeing the
dev. pediatrician again tomorrow and didn't want him to miss more
school.
Anyway - I'm wondering if the wheezing is a result of the meds? or just a coincidence?
Thanks,
rachelfran40147.3003472222that's good. better safe than sorry when it comes to these matters. Lots of people have had much success with Tenex, although hopefully your doc won't give up on the stimulants altogether just yet. Maybe the amphetamines aren't for him, but their could still be alot of potential with the methylphenidates. Amphetamines DO affect the breathing airways, although im not even going to pretend i remember in what manner. Good luck with the Tenex.
