When Adjusting Meds - What do you See?Hi Everyone, Our DD6 (ADHD - suspected anxiety - will confirm or not on Friday) has been taking Dexderine for about one year. One mild increase before summer and actually took her off of it for 6 wks over summer. For school started back on and now started in increase b/c we are seeing her aggression increasing, frustration going up, focus difficulties, meltdowns, issues with friends and teachers at school. So on the advice of her psych. we are increasing. What I want to know is what do you parents see in your child when you start to increase/decrease the same medication? I am asking b/c my DD seems no better - in fact I would say the opposite but different somehow. My understanding is that too little medicine will not help - too much you get a lethargic (zombie like) child. Never had the lethargic child and when we first started the med the first time we noticed it helping her right away. This time she seems agitated, no tolerance level, edgy, MORE itchy, etc etc. Last night was brutal. Unless the whole room stopped to listen to her when she spoke she came undone!!! Is it possible that since we have increased the stimulant the 'anxiety' issues she has are increasing as well. (or becoming more prevelant?) |
