Strattera and sense of humor? | ADHD Information

Hi all,

I'm a 27 yr old male with ADHD.  I've tried Concerta, Adderall, and now Vyvanse and have issues with them because I lose my sense of humor on them.  For this reason, I only take them as needed.  I've read posts from other people in the past that their sense of humor is also gone while on stimulants.

So all Strattera users out there, does it also have this effect on your sense of humor?  Making you more "serious" and robotic"?

Thanks everyone.
Yup. All the stimulant ADHD meds do that to me, to an extent. It doesn't change what I find funny, but rather dulld down the ability for ME to be funny. I am not as "animated" as I am without the meds; not as quirky. But the benefits I get from it are worth being toned down a bit, because that is part of the reason I am taking them. But I know what you mean, they are calming us down, so our personalities are not going to be as "lively." However, there are ways to counterbalance this. For one, when you know you are going to want your peronality to be at it's fullest, like you have a big night out with your friends or whatever, just don't take the meds that day (althought this wouldnt work with strattera.) Two, titrate the dosage. There may be just the right dose out there for you, maybe lower it a bit to the point where your personality comes back a bit, but the medication is also still effective. I do understand your situation, though, and hope my two cents was able to help in some way. Good luck. If you find a solution, keep posting, i'd like to hear that you made some progress.
