Hi All,
DS was an ANGEL today! Fifth day on Ritalin (10mg ..8:00 & 12:00) and WOW! It is wearing off now and starting to see the typical behaviors. But, while it lasted it was amazing. Sweet, cooperative, calm. We are hoping this lasts for a while.
Blessings to all,
Sandy
That's GREAT! I'm so happy for you that you're seeing such good results! I know what a relief it is!!!! If you're anything like me I was like "Wow, I didn't know he could be THIS good!" Hopefully it will keep up for him and if not- don't worry. Even if you have to make adjustments it still sounds like you're on the right track!
Good lucki and keep us posted!
That is so awesome! If you don't mind me asking, how old is your son? And was this the first med he's tried? My son is doing the med swap and I am looking all over to see which might be best for him.Hi Marie,
DS is 6. Last year we tried both stimulant families but didn't have any success. This year with new Dr. we tried Tenex only..great for 3 days but then ugh! Then we decided to give stimulants a new try. He is on Ritalin 2x 5mg at 8am and 12noon. The change is amazing :-)!! But, at present he is having a Terrible "Rebound" from 4 - 6pm. I think we are going to work on that next. But, we went with the fast acting Ritalin because we just wanted to see if there was going to be any positive result. If it didn't work..or he got aggressive (like last year) it would be out of his system quickly.
Good luck!

My son takes his last fast acting Ritalin at around 5pm and with Melatonin he still goes to sleep around 8pm so unless your son has sleep issues there's no reason he can't take another dose to help with that rebound in the evening. Good luck!
