ARGH | ADHD Information
Ok, I am thinking about asking my doctor about different medications for my daughter. She has been on Vyvanse for the past 2 years or more. It has worked, but we have slowly been going up and down in dose and I think it just isn't working as effectively as it should anymore. She started on MetdateCD and that was bad...really really bad. I know Daytrana is the same medication, but would she have the same reaction to it or would it be different since it is delivered differently? Also I have been hearing a lot about this new drug Intuniv, but I know nothing about it. Is that a good choice for a child that has focus and organization issues or is it something just for the kids that need medication for hyperactivity? I am not quite sure how to approach the doctor about all this nor am I sure what I should be asking for. I just know that the Vyvanse doesn't seem effective anymore and now I am totally and completely lost.
Concerta and Ritalin LA did not work for my DS(ADHD), but Daytrana has been great even though they are the same class of drug. He was taking Intuniv with the Daytrana, but is only doing Intuniv alone over the holiday break. My DD(ADD inattentive) is also on Intuniv, she takes no stimulant. What I am seeing is that it may be better for those without hyperactivity/impulsivity issues. It does help DS with his behavior, but I am not sure he will be able to focus in school with Intuniv alone. We shall see...
Intuniv helps my son a LOT with tics, calmness and anxiety/moodiness... but does absolutely nothing for his focus.
