My son five just started adderall twice a day, I made a post earlier and said i was against med but after taking him out of preschool cause of the hyper and impulsiveness i came to term to start using med cause i want his next year in school to go smoothly. About an hour after the first dose he start screaming, crying, staring, telling my his stomach hurt. I call the doctor all he said was he might have to up the dose. I'm like no this not working he told me to let it get into his system and try it again so i tired it again the next day the same symptons. but something new happen he started  this strange thing with his lips and tongue. I got really scared and went to the emergency room they told me not to give it to him no more and change doctors.  chell3740175.6389467593

How much did he start out on?  Stomach ache is a normal side effect of most stimulants until their body gets used to it.  Make sure he eats a big breakfast before taking meds.

Does sound strange to up the dose after the first day.

The tongue thing is probably a tic.  Tics can be annoying but are not usually anything to worry about.

Never hurts to get a second opinion if that is available to you.

Good Luck!

I would find another doctor...preferably a Pediatric Physiatrist who handles nothing but kids. There are too many options out there...try something else. We changed meds 14 times the fiorst 9 months. You just have to figure out which one works becuae they are all differnet. You can do this!  =)
