Ritalin LAHi my 8 year old (50pds) tried ritalin LA 10 mg for the first time today and she is over the top hyper. Called the doctor and she said give her 20mg tommorrow. Does this make sense ? Sometimes if the dose is too low the symptoms can be aggravated. With my son if the dose was too low he got aggitated and angry. But I have heard that they can be hyper too. Thanks for the message. I will try the 20 mg tommorrow and keep my fingers crossed. You should know pretty quickly if the dose is the problem because if it isn't then it won't get better with the higher dose. In that case it's probably just the wrong med a together. Hope it works for you! Normally if it doesn't work...it may not be ADHD. It may be a mood disorder or something else. Keep us posted!Hi everyone- I tired her on the ritalin 20, she was not as hyper but i don't really notice much change. The school and Psy, said she has ADHD plus anxiety. Teacher is soo fed up with her. I tired strattera-psy pulled her because of the ADHD, Vyvansse(bad side effects). Reading the message boards makes me feel i should see a difference that is noticable. ThanksGenerally if a specific stimulant is going to work you should see results of some kind pretty quickly. It's probably time to switch meds. You mentioned anxiety. My son takes Tenex along with his other meds to help with his anxiety. Have you thought about that?
