intuniv v. tenex

We once tried discointinuing Tenex for my child.  His anxiety shot through the roof (he has ADHD and GAD), so we discontinued it for only two days.  Still, it took three weeks for Tenex to work as well as it had before we had discontinued it.  The doctor said that this was unusual, but not unheard of.  Maybe you have to be patient and wait to see how your child does back on the Tenex.

We're the same way. DD is 9 now...ticks was teh reason we tried Intuniv...started at 1mg now at 2mg. Ticks worse, fits worse, aruging and just plain grumpy. With what you are saying, the two don't act the same in their systems. So possibly we need to try Tenex.

We've been doing thsi for a lonnnnngggggg time. the first 9 montsh we switched her meds 14 times. O if I were you, I'd go back to the twice a day Tenex. It works...so I wouldn't mess with it! Good luck! I know how you feel!!!

I am totally confused.  Our ADD daughter 7 yo is rigid, argumentative, disorganized, angry and fitful.  She was on several meds that didn't work.  Ultimately we found Tenex 1mg and it was like we had our daughter (miracle).  The only real issue was that we had to give it to her 2 times a day which was a huge hassle so we were excited when Intuniv came out.  She was on 1mg which didn't seem to do much and 2mg made her worse.  We went back to 1mg and we are seeing a lot of the behaviors we saw before Tenex.  How can this be if this is the same pill only in extended releases formula?  Has anyone found they needed to go back to Tenex bc Intuniv wasn't working?

I haven't had it with Tenex but my son had that problem with Ritalin.  He couldn't do the XR but was ok on the short acting form.  Logan'sMom40180.8328125
