Update on Focalin, our Christmas miracleNot that there weren't some bumps in the road with dosage and timing to maximize the benefits, yet minimize the side effects, but Kendal got off the kindergarten bus yesterday with the biggest, proudest smile I have ever seen! He couldn't wait to show me his behavior report, which had 11 out of 14 "smiley faces".....that's about triple the highest prior reports! And this morning, instead of having to coax him to take his medicine, he happily obliged and announced that he didn't think he was ever going to have to sit in the timeout chair again! So, I didn't think I could be happier with the results until I saw how happy HE is, and that is the best and biggest result of all!!! I'm getting all teary-eyed reading your post! How sweet that he's so proud of himself! My son does that now also! It just goes to show you that they truly want to behave they just can't without the help of medication. A big hand to you Kathleen0515 for making the hard decisions to make your child's life better!!!!!![]() ![]() Thanks, Logan's Mom... I don't know if I would have had the strength to make the decision to start the medication without all the information and support I have gained from this board, with you in particular. Not just for me, but I see you so supportive to so many other parents. Thank you sooo much! And from what I've read, it seems like the new medicine is working for Logan??? Wish you the very best, and I'm sure we'll be in touch!Thank you! It makes me verrrryyyy happy to know that I'm helping someone else through this! We really have to stick together. We are all in a very unique situation that most other people, if they're lucky, will never know about. And yes, the new medicine seems to be working well so far for Logan (fingers crossed!) Thanks for asking! We are still tweaking and trying to get it just right but it's not crazy like it was at the beginning. Thanks, Heatherr1, I am still amazed that this is the first and only medicine we have tried! I am still trying not to get my hopes up too high, because I guess it is likely we will have some more problems down the road. But for now, things are going great. He came home Friday with 13 of 14 smiley faces, something we thought we would never see. And he told me he thinks he might be able to be "student of the week" soon, something he's wanted and not gotten since school started and other classmates are on their second and third time around being chosen. So, life is good....for now!!! Good luck! I hope it continue for u! |
