ADHD and Caffeine
I know that caffeine is a stimulant so it should have a somewhat similar
effect on an ADHD person as stimulant medication does but I was
wondering if this is really true or just a myth. How does caffeine make
you feel?
Sometimes I feel like mtn. dew makes me more hyper but then again it
may be all the sugar counteracting any calming effect the caffeine may
have. I have also noticed that if I drink a lot of mtn. dew faster than usual
I feel kinda tired. I'm sure some if this is due to environmental factors
like the time of the day and stuff but I'm still curious. How does mtn. dew
or something that has a lot of caffeine and sugar make you feel? And
also, how does sugar affect you?
On the other hand, when I drink coffee I prefer it black so sugar isn't a
factor. I feel like coffee always makes me more quiet and calm and feels
kinda similar to how stimulants make me feel.musicfanatic40189.8071527778 Coffee's effect on me is same as you experience. When I drink a can of Coke or a Mtn Dew, I really don't notice anything. Actually, I really don't notice coffee's effect, but I know it settles me, and it's part of every morning for me, and I can drink it any time of day, or evening, with no concerns about falling asleep. I always look for a cup of coffee to take into a meeting--helps keep me there! I find I need coffee to function properly in the day and I
become less distracted.
I don't drink soft drinks. They don't make me hyper or
anything, just really ill.
