Falling asleep on Adderall??!!
This morning for the first time I gave my son 10mg of Adderall to help with his ADHD until the Daytrona patch kicks in (which is 3 hours). I got a call from school - he fell asleep in class??!! I was shocked! I took him to the ER because he was looking very pale also just to be on the safe side and they told me to put the pill in half and give him a 5mg dose tommorow morning. Anyone else have this problem? Please give me any advise and info on this med that you can give me! I know that when my son took vyvanse, he was very tiredContrary to what you would think, one of the common side effects of stimulants is drowsiness espcially when they first start taking it. It should get better within a few days or a week or so. The first day my son tried Adderall he fell asleep in the car. He NEVER falls asleep in the car! His doc said that stimulants actually stimulate the regulation center of the brain which is the part that isn't functioning properly in ADHD kids. Sometimes when the regulation center kicks in properly the body actually wants to sleep because it's calm (for a change!).
