intuniv explosive anger? My 6 year old daughter has dyspraxia and ADHD. She has begun intuniv and I have been giving it to her at night. The first week she was on 1mg and it seemed to be helping some. Last night was her first dose of 2mg and she has had uncontrollable outbursts this morning. She doesn't like school but this morning she has angrily been yelling: "I don't want to go to school." The bus driver would not let her on the bus because of her yelling.I sent her to her room and have called the med line at her doctor and am waiting to hear. Not sure what to do. I don't think I should let her stay home because that's what she wants. ( if she does stay at home, she will not get comptuter, tv, toys or any of the things she wants)However, is it fair to take her to school and have her disruptive? Anyone had an experience like this with meds.?Last year we tried Focalin XR and it worsened her behavior. We made it to 2 mg as well and the explosive anger was out of control.During xmas no less and let me tell you, xmas day was not enjoyable at all.I suggest tapering off now as we had to taper down for 2 more weeks and it was brutal!I've heard several people talk about explosive anger on Intuniv. I haven't heard this about the short acting form-Tenex. I wonder if they both have that side effect or if the Tenex would be better to start out on?My son is having a lot of anger on Intuniv. He's also on risperdal for mood/violence, and adding the Intuniv for ADHD seems to have made his violent outbursts worse. Apparently the Intuniv was supposed to have mood stabilizing effects, but so far all we see is the opposite. anyone dealing w. nightmares on intuniv? My son since starting Intuniv, has been more disprepectful and rude yet at 2 mg he says he feels calme and better with it. Talked to dr last night who said back down to 2 from 3 due to tiredness. we will see in a bit when I pick him up from homework class after school . My son did have anger issues and bad behaivior kinda aggressive, on the higher dose of Intuniv. Now that we have been at 2mg for a few weeks he has been much better. hope all is okwell still having problems with tiredness and exposions at the end of the day. I started him back on the 1mg of Intuniv for a week to see if we get any affect at all. Will be calling docs office later in the week.So the 2 mg didn't stay good long huh? That's too bad. Let us know how the 1 mg goes. Good luck!![]() He got his best report card ever on the Intuniv 2 mg, but sadly enough he is still tired and very moody in the evenings and afternoons. we shall keep you updated as it goes on....... Does he take one dose per day or is it split up into 2 doses? Our son is on 2mgs and has been doing bad in school-- he is in a bad mood most of the time and tonight told me that he feels like he is hitting puberty. I asked him why he felt like that and he said ccause he thinks everyone hates him. I asked if he ever feels like committing suicide and he said yes but he is too scared to:( I wnated to cry right there. We can't get in to see ped neuro. till June but I am calleing on Monday about this. I am going to started with 1 mg and get him off this med. He is 11.We have now kicked back from 3mg down to 1 mg slowly. Now he says he feels good and calm and has had the best repot card ever. the explosive anger is gone and he says he feels calmer so for now we will stay at 1 mg. given 1x per day as it is long acting. at least the Intuniv is. doing much better so hard. |
