Skin irritation from Daytrana Patch | ADHD Information

My son has been on the Daytrana Patch for less than a month.  He is starting to have some pretty bad skin irritation on his left hip.  I hate to stop using it because it has worked the best out of all the different meds we have tried.  Does anyone know if there is something over the counter I can use to treat it?We also have had great results with the patch. Haven't had the same bad skin issue though. I've read that things like a little vaseline on patch area on the off day(alternating hip to hip each day) can help. We also move it to a slightly different spot on the hip each time we apply it. directions tell you to place it on the hip but we move it back further sometimes. What little reaction we did have initially did go away for the most part after a few monthes-- we're at about two years now with few adverse affects.
good luck
We are having sucess with the patch too.  We move it around alot.  The spot is usually red for a day after we remove it but it sounds like your child may be having it worse.   Do alternate hips and spots you put it on?We've used the patch for almost 3 yrs now & at first we had quite a bit of skin irritation too, but it got better over the first couple of months.  We just make sure we alternate hips & move it around on the hip so it's never exactly in the same spot as the last time.  We also lotion his hips at night after bath if it starts getting dry in that area, that seems to help too.  Good luck!
