What should I do??
My son has had EXECELLENT reports from school since staring short
acting Focalin. However, on the weekends I notice that he gets a bit flat,
quiet, not as available, for a good window during the 4 hr stretch. I have
asked the teachers to report if they see it. I don't want him to be that out
of sorts or lethargic. He's a very spirited, fun loving child, and the doc
said those qualities should remain while on the meds, but the hyperness
and inattention will simply get reigned in. Teachers say he is occasionally
quiet, or a little less available, but that it doesn't last long if it happens at
all. Is it possible that he's having a different experience in school while on
the meds because of the structure and environment, then he's having at
home? that's why he's having this reaction at home and not really at
school? OR do I bail on this med and try something else so that he
doesn't have this side effect? It's a shame because it's been so posititive,
and other side effects haven't been an issue, AND it's not really what
they're reporting at school. They are reporting 98% positive things
so...ugh. I just remember reading on these boards that meds should enter
in and out of the system pretty seemlessly, and that makes sense to me,
but unfortuantely its not what we're experienceing. there is definietly a
shift in mood/personality for a stretch while its entering, that makes him
not himself. What should I do?
