Yes...my son was holding his breath and exhaling too. It sounded like big sighing. I didn't think of it as a tic, but in retrospect.. yeah. We are having a hard day off meds.

Update on DS:
Finally found a med that worked..Ritalin. Had 2 months of very good behavior, focus. But, DS started with an eye blinking tic and throat clearing. Yuck! He is off all meds again in hopes that the tics go away. Believe me..you don't realize how much it is helping until it is gone. Frustrated and disappointed. These little ones deal with SO much.

My ds has an eye blinking tic, too. He also does breath holding and then makes a noise while exhaling. He did these things before meds, tho. He doesn't do them all the time, they come and go. At least the blinking is quiet, altho sad to watch, I almost prefer it to the breath thing! We just started Foculin XR and w/in a few days...blinking :p
Our son got tics - head nodding- on concerta and then also adderall. He is off med now too and I feel your pain- or actually our DS's. We are struggling but we just can't do the stimulants. We even tryed clonidine too. It helped for a while but the tics came back. DS does the holding breath too. He did that before we noticed the tics and still does it some. Try giving him 2000mg fish oil. That is what our pshycologist said to give him. He is all about natural remedies. We did nutrition defidiency tests and found he is low in a lot of the amino acids. Deficient in magnesuim. so he also gets 500mg mag each day. I give him b complex and a good multivitamin. His impulse is better but he still has a very hard time with the focus. I wish so bad he could be back on the stimulants but we're not gonna try that route again we stay in close contact with his teacher and let her know what is going on here.
