The ever fluctuating life of ADHD | ADHD Information

I don't know any parents with kids who have ADHD, either. But the one thing that keeps me going is that I am friends with quite a few adults with ADHD/ADD and I can see that they are functional and lead fairly normal lives (whatever that might mean, LOL). There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I don't know their parents though...hadn't thought of that. I should ask!

OneOrTheOther40212.9209375Soooo.  DS is 12 now.  Hit puberty around september of 2009.  It has been a whole lotta trouble since then.  Last school year went great.  No tutoring at all (a first for him) and hardly any trouble.  This year has been bad.  He is in tutoring again and for the first time ever he is not turning in work and making zeros.  Thankfully his teachers are super awesome!!!  We are maxed out on Vyvanse and will be adding Intuniv in the am.  I am nervous as is he.  The Vyvanse has been working so well up till puberty.  I am sad right now.  I feel so helpless sometimes with my anger.  His impulse control or lack of drives me crazy.  How many of us as parents feel like we should be used to this life.  I AM NOT USE TO IT!!!!!!  I am tired of it.  Can you imagine what he must feel like?  I am scared to death that he is going to be like this as an adult and I have no idea how he would function.  Just the fears that keep me up at night sometimes.  Would you believe that I know of NO ONE who has a child with ADHD.  No one knows my life.  THanks to all you parents out there.  I love this child soooooooo much.  I hurt for him at the same time I am angry with him.  He is MY life and we will get through this LIFE together... You are not alone! Hang in there...you will get through it!

I don't know any parents with kids with adhd either, BUT, we all know they are out there. I live in a town where everything is hush hush and "it isn't my kid, it's your" mentality as well.

Have you started over with the meds he is taking, like completely over, back to the beginning again.

I have been told by our psychopharm that what didn't work when we started may actually work when puberty sets in and changes things.

My son couldn't handle adderall xr when we started meds just shy of 7, so if concerta stops working for him, I am going to discuss addreall xr again, just discuss with his doc. Can't hurt.

What is he currently taking?
