Our DS, age 6, developed eye blinking and other tics (throat clearing) after 2 months on stimulants. Psychiatrist indicated that he would like him to see a Pediatric Neurologist. At the time, I didn't think to ask what the issue might be. He is off the stimulants waiting for this evaluation. Does anyone have experience with this? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Stimulants known to cause tics in some people and they usually go away when the stimulants are removed. But if your son is like mine, he needs the stimulants. One option is to add Tenex (the generic is guanfacine and the long acting is Intuniv). It helps a lot with the side effects of stimulants and allows kids to take them when they otherwise couldn't because of the side effects.
