New here. I need some advice | ADHD Information

My son Cameron is 6 and has ADHD.  He is on 40 mg of vyanase.  He has been treated for ADHD since the age of 4.  I got a call from his teacher yesterday asking if he had his meds which he did she went on to say that he was bouncing off the walls and he told a aliitle girl in his class he was going to cut of her penis then he said he was going to cut his own neck. When I picked him up his teacher did say the day got better. Why would my son say these things?  He had/has alot of built up anger because his sister was so ill at one time we were back and forth from home to the hospital for over two years she had a liver transplant in Sept 08, but she has been pretty healthy since.  So I dont know if thats still the reason.  He never acts like this it was just yesterday.  Could his meds be not working?  His teacher is just amazing and thanks to her he didnt get expelled.  She did tell me that most of the time with a personal and sexual threat kids get expelled but because of his ADHD they choose not to because most of the time she said he is a wondeful student.  We are going to Disneyworld in March thru Dream Factory I'm hoping that week I can get my son back.  I really feel like I lost him because of Liver diease.  Thank you in advance for any advice.I don't have advice, but I will share that my son says inappropriate things, too. It's like that filter just never developed in his brain. Also, he has a little brother with Down syndrome, who has had extensive medical interventions since birth. The only thing I can say is that the ADHD behaviors were there before the birth of my second. I think it has been hard on him that the younger one gets so much attention, but I don't think the Down syndrome is to blame.

It's hard for any eldest when second child is born...and even harder if the younger has health problems. I was that child growing up with my little sister, who was 'delicate'. I felt ignored and left out, but I eventually grew into a fairly well-adapted adult. I think it's just soooooo much harder for a kid with ADHD to understand this.

My son's world is very egocentric...everything is in the NOW, and everything is about HIM. I think most kids are this way, but they learn how to deal with the 'real' world. My son takes part in a social group once a week at school with the psych. She teaches social skills in relation to his peers. Maybe they have something like this at your son's school?    He has never made a comment like that before.  I talked to a therpist who said watch for a pattern one bad day is not really that concerning.  I think the meds just wear off to soon.  Cam's mommy40225.3455555556Do you think an increase could help? Is this how he "talked" even before meds? No he didnt talk like that before meds but he was also only 4 when he started them.  He is already on a high dose.  So i dont know if he's doctor would even up the dose. What about change the med type? Hello Cam’s mom and all, Please please please stop putting your children under these dangerous medications. You can all see the results before your eyes. Have you ever looked at natural alternatives? If you never did that, atleast you need to search and see if there is any, right? If you never heard about it, I am here to let you know that there are wonderful natural medications that can show almost the same or even better effect in relieving the symptoms. Not to mention, that they are having zero side effects. I would also like to ask Cam’s mom, if he had any sugary foods or chocolates on that particular day? Having excess sugar in diet can often time cause outbursts. Once again try natural approach for treating your child, make changes in your kids diet and add some light games and exercise. All this can give you a happy, healthy and wonderful child.

If you want to read more about natural medications, I have some articles attached in my signature.

Hope this helps...

Do you think the medicine is helping your son? Is he where you want him to be?

We had trouble with a meds side effects, it made my son at age 8 depressed and suicidal - he told me he wanted to kill himself.

I just wonder if the meds are causing any of his verbal comments? Is this new or did he talk like this previously?

I would contact the prescribing doctor and mention what school told you.

Please post an update when you can.

Just a troll!
